Dinner & breakfast is included on our floating backpackers

  • Aquapackers is child friendly.
  • We're closed for winter - June, July, August.
  • Why not book the whole boat for group functions?
  • Aquapackers staff can book water taxis or kayak trips for you while on board.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard or cash.
  • There is no mobile phone service in the Abel Tasman unless you're on top of a high hill.

Cancellation policy:

  • Cancellation 48 hours prior to stay - no refund.
  • Cancellation due to bad weather - rebook or cancel with no penalty.

Things you need to know about Abel Tasman's AQUAPACKERS backpackers...

You CAN NOT drive to Aquapackers. The road ends in Marahau where there is plenty of free car parking.

The Catarac, backpacking afloat in New Zealand's Abel Tasman National Park near Nelson Aquapackers provides a BBQ dinner and a basic breakfast. If you are vegetarian we DO cater for you in our normal menu.If you have any allergies please inform us at the time of booking. We're sorry but we don't cater for vegans however if you're vegan you are very welcome to bring your own food and use our kitchen facilities.

BBQ DINNER: Marinated steak, beef sausages, coleslaw, rice salad, and a spicy vegetarian pie.

BREAKFAST: Cereal, toast, tea, coffee.

Aquapackers will meet you on Anchorage Beach anytime after 4pm. We have 2 blue inflatable boats to ferry our passengers to and from our floating backpackers.

Backpackers hostel transport in the Abel Tasman What you need to bring:

  • Your basic overnight stuff. Toiletries, towel, change of clothes.
  • Some money if you get thirsty at the bar.
  • Swimsuit.
  • Whatever you may need for the following days activities.

Aquapackers staff are happy to advise you of the tide times if your walk in the Abel Tasman involves a tidal crossing.
